AI Insights Dashboard for Sales Commission Management

We turned a traditional dental sales commission app into an AI-powered insights platform. Using the ChatGPT API, we added an AI Insights Dashboard and Custom Prompt analytics so the user can instantly see top performers, high-value manufacturers and procedures, and standout trends—without digging through multiple system reports.

From Static Reports to AI-Powered Sales Insights

Instead of manually digging through multiple system reports or creating custom reports from different data sources, the user now has an AI Insights Dashboard that automatically summarizes what’s happening in their business.

The dashboard uses AI to interpret monthly sales and commission data and turns it into easy-to-read visualizations and narrative summaries. Business leaders can answer key questions at a glance:

  • Who are our top-performing Sales Reps?
  • Which manufacturers, procedures, and surgeons drive the highest commission and revenue?
  • Where are there unexpected spikes, drops, or anomalies in performance?

By combining the existing logic of the commission engine with the natural language capabilities of ChatGPT, the platform now does more than just calculate commissions—it tells the story behind the numbers.

Custom Prompt Analytics – Ask Questions, Get Answers

To give the user even more flexibility, we implemented a Custom Prompt feature that lets users query their commission and sales data using simple natural language.

Instead of crafting complex filters or SQL queries, users can simply type questions like:

  • “Show me the top 5 Sales Reps for implant procedures in the last quarter.”
  • “Which surgeons generated the most commission for braces last month?”
  • “Identify Sales Reps whose commission dropped more than 20% compared to the previous month.”

The entire solution is architected with security and scalability in mind. The core commission engine and AI integration layer are built in Node.js, while all sales and commission data are stored securely using AWS services. The AI functionality is powered by the ChatGPT API, integrated directly into the user’s existing infrastructure and deployed on their server to align with their security and compliance requirements.

Highlighting Top Sales Performers

One of the most used features of the AI Insights Dashboard is the Top Sales Reps view.

The system compares each Sales Rep’s performance across time and segments and then highlights:

  • Reps generating the highest total commission
  • Those driving the most revenue from specific procedures and manufacturers
  • Emerging up-and-coming reps whose numbers are rapidly improving

Instead of manually filtering and sorting data, managers simply open the dashboard and instantly see who is leading, who is improving, and who needs support. The platform uses the ChatGPT API to present this information in plain language, turning performance metrics into actionable insight.

Most Profitable Manufacturers, Procedures & Surgeons

Because the underlying commission application already supports rules by manufacturer, procedure, and surgeon, it was a natural fit for AI-driven insights.

The AI Insights Dashboard now answers questions like:

  • Which manufacturers (for implants, braces, and other dental products) provide the highest profit and commission?
  • Which procedures are most profitable across the organization?
  • Which surgeons generate the highest commission for specific reps or regions?

By analyzing sales data hosted on AWS and processed through the Node.js backend, the system surfaces ranked lists, trends, and comparisons. This helps leadership make better decisions around promotion, pricing, discounts, and strategic partnerships with manufacturers and dental practices.

“Standout Insights” – Automatic Anomaly Detection

A key differentiator of this solution is the “Standout Insights” section, designed to bring unusual or important patterns directly to the user’s attention.

The AI automatically scans the data and highlights:

  • Sudden spikes or drops in a Sales Rep’s commission
  • Unusual changes tied to specific manufacturers, procedures, or surgeons
  • Outlier deals that significantly impact commissions
  • Potential mismatches between rules, volume, and actual payout

This turns the dashboard from a passive reporting tool into an active partner in sales performance management.
